Professor Layton and the Animated Movie

Written by: Christian Gillespie

The crazy cast of characters

Fans of the puzzle based Nintendo DS game series, Professor Layton, might be interested in knowing that the all mighty country of Japan has released an animated movie based on the games.

Producer is master of conveying emotion in film, Masakazu Kubo who is known for also producing the Pokémon films (don’t tell me you didn’t cry near the end of the first Pokémon movie).

The film is entitled Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva and follows after the story of the latest game in the series, the Japanese released game Professor Layton and the Specter Flute. The film has an opera house, sword fights, and the secret of eternal life, everything that makes up a quality film.

A trailer for the movie can be viewed here in the upper right hand corner. The trailer is entirely in Japanese. Still interesting to watch for any fan of the series. Leave it to Japan to have the voice actors dress up in character even if it is just an animated movie.

Level-5, company for publishing the games is apparently keen on having the movie released in other regions. I for one hope so, so I can know what the hell is going on in that trailer.
