In case you haven’t heard, remakes of the Pokemon Gold and Silver games are being made. The announcement was first heard on Pokemon Sunday, a television show in Japan that is about everything Pokemon related.

Titled Heart Gold and Soul Silver, these remakes will be released for the Nintendo DS. A banner on the show, Pokemon Sunday, showed that the game would be coming out in Japan sometime in fall of 2009, with an expected release in the U.S. to follow.
Gameplay footage reveals the main character walking around, with what looked like a Chikorita following him, ala Pikachu style in Pokemon Yellow.

According to gaming sites like Destructoid, the game will also include a Poke Walker, a pedometer, that is able to carry Pokemon you own, and while you walk, or shake the thing, your Pokemon will gain experience and also earn “watts,” apparently some sort of currency for the game.
This is very exciting news for anyone that has been a fan of the Pokemon franchise, as Pokemon Gold and Silver are often claimed as one of the best in the series.
